"Your world is pointing toward an insistence on conformity which is causing you enormous grief. It's what's at the heart of all of your religious battles, and religious battles are what are at the heart of all of your battles. In other words, all of your wars and global irritation with one another are over your determination to promote sameness. Your democracy insists that it's the only government that works. And every religion (it's interesting to note) proclaims that it is the only one that works."
~ Abraham-Hicks
I love this quote. This is a perfect example of the reason I chose the name of this blog as "A Path to One". Not "the" path but "a" path.
A Course in Miracles says it is one of many paths. Let us not think ours is the only one.
That would kind of defeat the purpose.
don Miguel Ruiz has a new book "The Fifth Agreement" which is:
ReplyDelete“The Fifth Agreement” is being quoted as, “Don't believe me, don't believe yourself, don't believe anyone else,” and is really a combination of three rules he gave his students. Ruiz says, “Open your ears and your mind, listen and make choices. If you follow these three simple rules, you can go anywhere in the world and still protect your new dream of love and heaven in your mind. You have to be aware of what it is that you believe. You have to listen to that voice and make choices.”
This really compliments our Sunday discussion! Just another synchronous experience. Here's the site: http://www.thefifthagreement.com
Thanks Marilyn! I love it! I will have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the rule of not believing anyone comes down to perception? Because our truth isn't in our perceptual beliefs, is it?
